The Derry Township Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to promote Zachary Jackson to Director of Parks and Recreation.
Jackson has served as Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation since 2009. Prior to joining the staff at Derry Township, he was the Program/Facility Manager for Lower Paxton Township for two years.
Jackson holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management and a master’s degree in business administration from West Virginia University.
“I am truly blessed to have this opportunity at such an exciting time in our department’s history and I’m looking forward to serving the residents of Derry Township in this new role,” said Jackson. “Thanks to the incredible leadership provided by Matt Mandia over the past 27 years, our facilities, programs, and events have become integral parts of our residents’ lives,” he added.
Jackson said that he and the staff are excited for next year’s opening of the new Hershey Community Center and look forward to expanding the recreational and wellness opportunities valued by the community.
A native of Hummelstown, Jackson lives in East Hanover Township with his wife, Alexis, and ten-year old daughter, Adeline.
